Dance-a-Rama is a wonderful yearly event held in several of the beautiful dance studios in the Sawtooth Building, an artist’s center in West Berkeley.  The three entirely unique performances, held on the hour starting at 1P.M., will highlight the beautiful diverse dance work being done here in our community– from Modern Dance to Dance Theater,  Aerial Dance to Belly Dance, Indian Dance to Contemporary Persian Dance and more!

DALIA RAWSON presents her Ballet San Jose Trainees in “Remembering Rain,” inspired by the California drought.
LISSA RESNICK shows “Mulholland Drive,” originally created in and around the canyons of Los Angeles.
KATHRYN ROSZAK shows her “Romeo and Juliet” pas de deux, in addition to “Reverse Flow” and “City Noir.”
SHAHRZAD KHORSANDI shows “Chai-Khooneh.”�� Persian dance has been outlawed for decades by Iran, and Shahrzad both preserves tradition and creates contemporary Persian ballets.

Three days of workshops, parties, and of course PERFORMANCE! This year we’re mixing it up a little, to create the best experience possible for you, our beloved audience. We have TWO nights of instructor-performance, and TWO days of attendee-performance, all in the gorgeous black-box professional theatres at the Artists Rep building. See ticket descriptions for more info!

ALL SHOWS ARE ALL-AGES. Light refreshments will be available for purchase at all shows, drinks will be available starting one hour before evening shows and during intermission. Online ticket sales end Aug 7 at 10:30p, though you may still be able to get them at the door or the Info Booth during the festival.

Darren Johnston’s Broken Shadows Family Band is comprised of an all-star cast of musicians from greatly diverging backgrounds; Western European to Arabic Classical music, Slavic choral music to Americana, classic jazz to the sounds of Macedonia and beyond. They���ve created a truly unique sound, balancing the old with the new, telling human stories and begging to be danced to. You may recognize master percussionist Faisal Zedan from his many years as a shining star musician and music instructor in the global bellydance community! This open-dance rockin’ good time party will be happening in the upstairs Morrison Theatre directly after the show. 9:30-11p, 10$, All-ages. (8$ for folks coming from attending the JamBallah Showcase Part I)
